Final Portfolio

This was my final assignment, for ART 201- Beginning Digital Arts. I created this portfolio using Adobe InDesign, and I had a lot of fun learning how to use Indesign. I wanted my portfolio to be unique, and as professional as possible, which is why I went with a black font, that wasn't too artsy.

Candy Rain Love

This animation was created using Adobe Photoshop. I had no idea that Photoshop could be used to create an animation prior to this project. The title of the animation is, “Candy Rain Love.” Essentially the story of the animation is about a woman who is deeply in love with a man she has been seperated from. She falls asleep, and dreams of ‘‘candy rain.’’ When she wakes her husband has returned from the war, and they live happily ever after. The song “Candy Rain” is playing thorough the animation.
I enoyed coming up with the creative storyline for this project, but the technical aspects behind creating the animation were quite challenging. In the end I was happpy with the results of my first ever animation.

Photoshop Collage Project

Collage inspired by song titled, Rather Be by Clean Bandit.
"We're A Thousand Miles From Comfort. We Have Traveled Land and Sea, But As Long As I am With You, My Heart Continues To Beat."

This project was created in photoshop, the collage was inspired by the song "Rather" by Clean Bandit. This piece is a collage of various images combined to tell a story. The song "Rather" is about a girl who is extremely determined to be with a person she loves deeply, she wis so determined that she won't let anything keep them apart, even the most uncomfortable situations. As long as the two are together they will be okay. When I think of a love this strong I think of the love a parent has for their child, which is why there is a woman and baby at the center of the image. I wanted to piece to be abstract, with pieces not necessarily matching, yet coming together to tell a story.

Custom Graphic Assignment

A Starry Christmas Night
by: Mackenzie Rector
10/27/14
This custom graphic was created using Adobe Photoshop. To create the tree, I used an image of an evergreen tree off the internet, to create a new stamp. Once I created the stamp, I used it to create the tree in this image. I used the stamp tool to put the lights onto the tree as well as the stars in the sky and the snow on the ground. I used the shape tool for the moon, and the star atop the tress. Using the effects on photoshop I was able to add backlighting to the moon as well as the star on the tree. I am pleased with how the graphic turned out, I like the realism the animated graphic has to it. With Christmas being right around the corner, creating this image definitely got me in the holiday spirit.

Photoshop Magazine Cover Project

By: Mackenzie Rector
10/23/2014
ART 210
This project was created using Adobe Photoshop. The request was for me to create a fictional magazine cover. It was completely up to me to decide what the theme of the magazine would be, so I decided to go with the cutest thing I could think of; a baby magazine. The magazine is titled " Beautiful Baby," the cover features five text pieces and three images. I used different shapes to add variety to the different images, and added effects to the texts and different colors so that they stand out among each other and the background. I enjoyed the freedom and high level of creativity I had with this project.

"Mackenzie Swims with a Shark"

Extraction Assignment
Beginning Digital Arts
Prof. Corrigan
10/20/2014
By: Mackenzie Rector
This extraction assignment was created using photoshop. I took an image of myself jumping into a cenotes in Mexico and an image of a shark shooting out of water that I found on the internet to create this image. After extracting myself from the original photo, I strategically sized and placed myself in the shark's photo to look like I am jumping in to his mouth, quite fearlessly. I had a lot of fun on this assignment, and I think it turned out great. Why anyone would jump into a sharks mouth is beyond me, but I think its comical and creative.

Vector Illustrator Project

This vector illustration was created using Adobe Illustrator. Above is the original photo below is the image I created in illustrator using the original photo. I wanted the final product to be realistic, and look like an animation at the same time, so I tried not to deviate much from the original photo. I truly enjoyed this project, I learned so much about Illustrator and how to use its tools and functions.
